Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of ipsb.co and related services operated by the International Psychotherapy Standards Board (“IPSB”, “we”, “us”). By starting an assessment, creating an account, or completing a purchase, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who we are
IPSB is an independent examination and standards body based in Oxford, United Kingdom. Contact: info@ipsb.co.
2. What we offer
We provide timed professional assessments and, upon successful payment, issue a certified level and a verifiable certificate for the relevant track (for example, CBT). Marketing materials may list additional tracks; only tracks marked as open are available for assessment.
A certificate reflects performance on our assessment at the stated level. It is not a licence to practise, a professional membership body credential, or a substitute for statutory registration, clinical supervision, or local regulatory requirements where you practise.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter a binding contract. You must provide accurate name, email, and date-of-birth details. Accounts are personal and non-transferable.
4. Assessments and integrity
Assessments are timed. Leaving the assessment, timing out, or other integrity breaches may void an attempt. Question banks, scoring rules, and band routing are confidential. You must not copy, share, or reverse-engineer assessment content.
Results (including certified level) are withheld until payment for that enrolment is successfully completed. Certain payment methods (for example direct debit) may show as processing; certificates and level reveal are issued only after payment clears.
5. Fees, payment, and no refunds
Prices are shown at checkout in the currency indicated (currently USD unless stated otherwise). By paying, you authorise the charge for the selected certification enrolment and any included retakes described at purchase.
All fees are non-refundable. This includes, without limitation, cases where you do not like your certified level, do not complete an assessment, exhaust attempts, miss a retake window, change your mind, or purchase by mistake. If a payment fails or is later charged back, we may revoke access, certificates, and register entries associated with that order.
Test or promotional checkouts (if offered) remain subject to these Terms unless we state otherwise in writing.
6. Certificate validity and renewal billing
Unless we state a different period for a specific product, each issued certificate is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
After that 12-month period, your certification status may lapse unless renewed. By purchasing, you agree that a recurrent (renewal) payment may be taken to extend or renew your certification for a further period, using a payment method you have provided or saved with our payment processor (Stripe), subject to the renewal price and notices we make available at the time of renewal.
You are responsible for keeping your account email and payment method current. If a renewal payment fails, certification may expire until payment succeeds. You may contact us before renewal if you wish to discuss opting out of renewal where a recurring arrangement has been set up; unless cancelled in accordance with the process we provide, renewal charges may proceed.
7. Retakes
Where your purchase includes free retakes, they must be used within the stated window (for example 30 days). Retakes may raise, but will not lower, your best certified level for that purchase window. Unused retakes expire and are non-refundable.
8. Your account
You are responsible for safeguarding sign-in credentials and any personal access links we send. Notify us promptly of unauthorised use at info@ipsb.co.
9. Acceptable use
You must not misuse the site, attempt to disrupt assessments, create fake identities, scrape content, or use certificates in a misleading way (including implying IPSB endorsement of your clinical practice beyond the assessed track and level).
10. Intellectual property
Site content, assessment materials, branding, and certificate designs are owned by IPSB or its licensors. You receive a limited, personal licence to use your own issued certificate for truthful professional representation while it remains valid.
11. Disclaimers
Services are provided on an “as available” basis. We do not warrant uninterrupted access, that assessment outcomes will meet your expectations, or that certification will produce any particular employment, client, or regulatory result.
12. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, IPSB is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or loss of profits, data, or opportunity. Our aggregate liability arising from a purchase is limited to the fees you paid to us for that purchase in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
13. Privacy
Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change accordingly. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms for future purchases and use.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that apply if you are a consumer in another jurisdiction.
